lip Bramwell Catelinet, Professor Emeritus, USA Citizen, British dual Citizenship. Born 3rd December 1910. Died 21st November 1995. Education, matriculation standard followed by courses at Gregg Business College. Music Scholarships to Trinity College of Music, London and The Tobias Matthay Pianoforte School, London, student of Harold Craxton and Vivian Langrish. Diplomas awarded: Licentiate, Royal Academy of Music(Pianoforte- Performers); Associate Trinity College of Music (Teachers Diploma); Incorporated London Academy of Music (Pianoforte- Performers); Gold Medal Award,Pianoforte 1926.



Artistic Career

British Broadcasting Corporation 1937-1952 interrupted by military service 1942-1946. Prior to c
all-up, in the BBC Military Band (Euphonium) - 1946 BBC Concert Orchestra,Tuba, Euphonium (some piano and celeste); BBC Opera Orchestra, Tuba, and some repetiteur work. Professor at the Trinity College of Music, London; Founder and conductor of the Peter Cavan Light Music Orchestra and the Harmonie Brass Ensemble. (Peter Cavan, a pseudonym adopted and used in connection with different forms of music-making, and incomposing and arranging music of lighter calibre). In the 1950' s became a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra and often appeared as an extra with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Director of the John Dickenson and High Wycombe Brass Bands. Co- Founder of the National School Band Association and now a Honorary Advisor.

ived in the USA in 1956 domiciled in Pittsburgh. Following an interview, was engaged as an instructor to the Music Department of Carnegie Tech., afterwards known as the Carnegie Mellon University. Promotion over the years followed, and various appointments included: Conductor of the Brass Choir; Director of the Kiltie Symphonic Band; Conductor of the Honours Band; Chairman of The Music Extension Department; Founder and Executive Secretary, Carnegie Awards Festival. Chairman, Greater Pittsburgh Performing Arts Centre. Founded and played in the Pittsburgh Brass Quintet. Played in the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra as an extra. Was accompaniest to many student soloists of the music department. On return to England was appointed Radio Reviewer for Brass Bands and Music Reviewer for Faber Music Ltd, and other music publishers; Editor of "The Conductor" N.A.B.B.C. (12 years).
